**Dirty English is a modern love story inspired by Pride and Prejudice**

A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.

But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.

With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

ilsa madden -millsa.jpgNew York Times and USA Today best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills writes about strong heroines and sexy alpha males that sometimes you just want to slap.

She's addicted to all things fantasy, including unicorns and sword-wielding heroes in books. Other fascinations include frothy coffee beverages, dark chocolate, Instagram, Ian Somerhalder (seriously hot), astronomy (she's a Gemini), Sephora make-up, and tattoos.

She has a degree in English and a Master's in Education.

When she's not pecking away on her computer, she shops for cool magnets, paints old furniture, and eats her weight in sushi.

I really enjoy Ilsa Madden-Mills's writing style. Her characters are always relateable and she writes dialogue extremely well. When she announced this project, I was super excited to see what she could do with an older classic as inspiration, bringing it into a modern world, and I have to say -- she did pretty well!

Now, to be fair, I am one of the (few?) big readers out there that (gasp) has never read Pride & Prejudice -- Mr. Darcy just never drew me in -- but I found DIRTY ENGLISH, and the references to P&P, to be a fun, enjoyable read.

Elizabeth's semi-recent life hasn't been the most pleasant. As someone who has battled her own fair share of dark moments, it was extremely easy to understand Elizabeth's mindset -- and I give major props to Ilsa for writing Elizabeth's character as well as she did. Needless to say, Elizabeth doesn't trust all that easily anymore.

Declan, too, has lost his ability to trust, but watching him help Elizabeth move past her shadows, past her scars, and loving her for her light and dark moments, was great. I loved that while the chemistry was there, theirs was a romance that took it's time to come to fruition. In a world of insta-love, it's refreshing to read a new adult title that allows the characters time to grow into one another.

Now, word on the street (aka, her facebook group) was that DIRTY ENGLISH was going to be a stand-alone title, no series or anything of the sort. But the people have spoken, and the people want Dax's story too. Dax... there's another man with a story to tell, and I can't wait to see Declan's brother fall next (...if Ilsa so feels inclined, you know).
