{ review } .
I had the opportunity to read both the first and second parts for this release blitz, so my review will reflect both. Of the two, I felt more connected with the first part. Haylee, aka Miss Rose, aka "Phoebe", is the new professor at Ole Miss -- and everyone has the hots for her. Rumor swirls that she's on this sugar daddy/sugar baby/hooker app, and after Nate is assigned to be her assistant his senior year, he wants to play...
So he forks over three grand and finds her profile.
These two...
So, typically the forbidden romance either gives me a sour taste in my mouth, or I find a reason as to why it's ok. Here's the reason why Nate and Haylee are ok -- she's only 5 years his senior. Granted, we all know guys mature slower but... I enjoyed the forbidden aspect in book one, and watching as Haylee battled ethics and desires. When we move into book two, we watch as Nate battles jealousy -- Haylee is set up on a blind date with a man her age, who she actually gets along with. In book two, Haylee battles the fact there's Nate, there's the app, and there's Jaylen...
Danielle Jamie's writing is one that was completely easy to get lost in. It was easy to fly through the pages of these novellas and feel the emotions both Nate and Haylee were experiencing. I question Nate's emotions -- being a meathead jock and all that -- but I feel that there's more beneath the surface to this guy. Haylee has some decisions to make. Obviously, I know what way I'd like her to go, but that's going to be a battle of ethics and morals, with a side of potential career ending for both of them. Time will tell. The question is... how many books is this going to expand over?
