Oh, Lori Foster, how I've missed you.
The one thing Ms. Foster has always done well, in my book, is the fighter. Back in the day of Wrecking Havoc and Simon Says, I was a true and full Lori Foster fan. I couldn't wait to get my hands on more of her books, and was sad when she let her fighters go. So when Cannon was introduced in Riske and Dare's books, I knew I was going to love the ride she was going on.
In this latest Ultimate book, we have Cannon's sister and his best friend -- but this book was so much more than the whole best-friend's-little-sister. We have the fight drama, we have the suspense that Ms. Foster always does incredibly well. But pairing those items with the best-friend's-little-sister? I truly loved every moment of this story -- including all the character catch-up we get.
Armie has had his eye on Merissa for a while, but knows better than to take his playing ways to the little sister of his best friend since high school. 'Rissy' has had her eye on him, as well, but hates that he calls her Stretch -- her height is something she is a bit self-conscious about, regardless of what the guys and girls in her life say. Besides, she could never pair up against the women he brings into his bedroom -- sometimes more than one at a time. Armie won't take that step for fear of Cannon's reaction... but it's Cannon's reaction that lights the fire until Merissa's tail.
Hands down, one of my most favorite Lori Foster books since Wrecking Havoc. I had read many Lori Foster books prior to that one, and then more after, but Wrecking Havoc was always my marker when it came to Ms. Foster's stories. Well, with this new generation of fighters brings a new favorite fighter -- Armie Jacobson. I loved his secrets, I loved his fears, I loved his protectiveness... He was a great lead character and so loveable, even when he didn't think that he could ever be that for someone.
Not only was the chemistry hot and the feels hotter, it was the suspense that kept me turning the pages and wanting to know more. Lori Foster has a renewed fan out of me.

ReplyDeleteThanks for being a part of the tour.
Lori has always been a favorite author of mine, especially with her earlier fighting books. Like I said, she fell off my radar for a little while but this book was definitely quality Lori work!
