At fifteen, I took on the role of Popper out of necessity, forgetting the person I was. That's when I became the lead singer of a grunge metal band. Now at twenty-two I'm cocky, a pessimist, and violent. My shrink is even fed up with me, suggesting I try something radical to appreciate the value of life. She gives me a card that leads me to him, and ultimately I find . . . me.

Being a celebrity makes people think they know who I am. Just because I can't leave my house without a camera in my face, doesn't mean you know me. The sad part is that for so long, I thought of myself the same way everyone else does. Screaming at mosh pits, I personify Popper, lead singer of the band Chimera. But I have a secret life. A life where I'm a hero, where people look up to me. When my fake celebrity world comes crashing down, and I'm left with not only my secret, but others as well, there is one man standing behind me. The only thing is, he has the biggest secrets of all.

Finding Sadie

He lets go of my legs to tangle in my hair, pulling his fists taut as his chest abrades my nipples. Then he gets to work. Fucking me. He fucks me into the mattress. It’s hard and powerful. Luscious and smooth.

“What do you want?” he rasps against my cheek.

I move my hands to his back, nails digging into flesh. “Everything.”

“Not everything. Not yet,” he gasps, pulling away from me. Breaking that delicious friction he has with my chest to pull my thighs back to the bed.

His pace speeds up, so fast I can only stare, my eyes wanting to close but I can’t miss a second. Then he pulls me farther up, my ass and lower back in the air and I explode.

My eyes slam shut, my body arching, thrashing as he holds me down.

“Fucking, yes, yes, give it to me, baby,” he gasps between thrusts as I feel him harden impossibly further, then pulsing inside of me.

I expect to take his weight after he comes, but he rolls to the side. My legs move more slowly. Sore. I am definitely going to be sore tomorrow.

He gasps beside me, lying on his back. One hand is over his head, bicep bulging. Fuck, can I keep him?

As if he hears the thought, he sits up with another groan, getting off the bed. He disappears in the bathroom, and I try to regulate my breathing. Getting rid of round one for two? I may be ready for that. Maybe.

But when he comes back, it’s not to the bed, but his clothes. I sit up and watch silently as he pulls first boxer briefs, then jeans over his muscular thighs. Finally he turns to me and licks his lips, his hands on his hips.

“What’s your name?”

God. Damn it. Way to ruin the mood. What did I really think I was getting here? I knew but it’s always a wake-up call.

“Sadie.”

With a single chin lift, he’s gone.

Finding Sadie
Popper is a diva.

Oh my goodness, is she ever.

So much so that while reading the first chapter, I wasn't sure how I was going to honor my commitment to reading both this prequel and FORGETTING POPPER.

When the book starts off, you have grunge metal band Popper, and you have off-the-clock Popper. The major difference? Getting rid of some make-up and the grease in her hair. Otherwise, she's the same smart-mouthed, don't-talk-to-me girl.

Her shrink calls her by her given name and it sends her in a bit of a frenzy -- she is not Sadie, she is Popper. And when her shrink sends her on a mission... Well, Popper just wants her off her back.

On this mission of sorts, Popper learns a lot about herself. She's not even Popper -- she's Robin to another volunteer's Batman (whom she calls Batty). And when the anonymous hot and heavy time comes, then ends? She gives Batty her name...

Her real name.

From that moment on, she's Sadie to someone, and I don't think she realizes it to it's full extent.

I love how "Batty" is with her... especially their first time between the sheets. His words come off as frustrated and annoyed, when I'm truth it's the heat of the moment. And when Sadie's world crashes down?

“What are you doing?”I whisper.

Those eyes. They meet mine, and I’m swirling in them, instead of my own thoughts.

“Finding you.”

And how right that statement is.

HOWEVER! I'm curious as to why she never asks him his name...

All in all, I really enjoyed this prelude to the serial!

Forgetting Popper
We learn at the end of the prequel that there's a "decent" age gap between Sadie and Batty... But what's ten years?

I think if anyone has a semi-issue with it, it's Batty...

“You’re cute when you’re excited,”he says with a smile.

I smirk. “You should know.”

“Mmm. It’s going to be a long day. Don’t start.” He squeezes my waist, then belies his words. “What do you want for Christmas, little girl?”

I bat my lashes and say in a breathy voice, “Well, Batty Santa . . .”

“Don’t call me that. It sounds like Daddy Santa.”

I lower my chin and snap his white beard. “Do you want to be Daddy Santa?”

He rolls his eyes under his hat. “I’m thirty-one. Not old enough to be your daddy, you kinky little shit.”

I gasp and cover my mouth. “You’re so old.”I pat his padded chest. “But don’t worry, your balls aren’t very wrinkly yet.”

“Stop talking.”

“But it’s Christmas, Batty Santa!”

“Shut your face before I put them in your mouth.”

I think Batty and Sadie are cute. She IS Sadie with him, but she doesn't need to be some straightlaced girl... Because she never will be. He has an attitude that matches hers well.

Anyways... We start this book with a deeper look into the diva that is Popper. The mostly naked rocker is such a far cry from the girl we got to know in FINDING SADIE. And where we watched her find herself in the prequel, true to the title, we watch Sadie change her persona in FORGETTING POPPER.

We learn a little bit more about how Popper came to be. We learn how her family is deceitful and only one person truly has her back.

We also watch as Batty and Sadie learn one another's "true" identities -- and that he's known all along...

I flash back to a conversation we had in an elevator what seems like a million years ago as I stalk across the room.

“I’m trying really hard not to slap you right now,”I growl.
He smirks and looks at the doors. “One day you will. But it won’t be today.
His eyes tell me he knows what’s coming, but he doesn’t stop me.

I think about balling my fist and ruining his pretty suit, but even as I think it his eyes flash. Why does he have this power over me even now? I want to erase the last five minutes, go back to where he was my Sundays, and didn’t intrude into my Monday.

The echo of my hand hitting his cheek sounds in the room like a shot.

As I did before... I love how Finn/Batty cares for Sadie. His care, his anger, everything...

We even get to venture inside his point of view...

During the week, I can almost convince myself that Sadie is a spoiled, messed up young woman. A young woman that has no business in any part of my life. I think of the flighty fighter and know that nothing more will ever come of our relationship than a physical attraction. But then Sunday comes. I fucking live for Sundays. What was once an obligation is now the only time I can take something for myself. And I do. I take everything Sadie will give me, and it’s enough to keep me coming back for more.

Even when he's raising his voice, you can hear how much he cares. And if there's one person in the world to help her bring Sadie out and distinguish the two, it is Finn.

What Im loving about this serial is even though they're shirt, sweet, and to the point... They're FULL. Between the emotion and the dialogue, the character development... They read like full books, and I'm loving it.

I loved this installment, and can't wait to read the next..!
