cover reveal || JUSTIFIED

Justified by Ali Parker

Publication Date: June 9, 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance – Adult

Lust has always been the emotion of choice; love nothing more than a silly game played by delusional fools.

Lisa Parks has been successful at everything she touches, her confidence her calling card. A recent move to Maine from New York is just the change of atmosphere she needs for a fresh start. With far too many mistakes in her past, her eyes remain focused on loving and leaving, her actions justified by far too many cracks in her damaged heart.

Marc Martin is living the dream, his college being paid for and his sights set on great things. In a quick turnaround trip to help his older sister Kari move to Maine after heartbreak, Marc meets the woman that just might be his match. Lust has been a reoccurring theme in his life, and he has no plans of changing that. He is young and free, handsome and ready to set the world on fire, and finds that he is justified in breaking hearts everywhere he goes. Besides, love is a game played by many and truly won by few.

As a photographer for the New York Post, Kari Martin was used to seeing heartache and scandal up close. But one night at the club… her whole world changed.

Heartbroken and willing to call off her wedding, she decides a change is in order and moves from NYC to a small town in Maine, where the average age of the residents there is sixty (or thereabouts). She works to fit in perfectly, and tries like hell not to let anyone find out just how very jaded she’s recently become over the lie called love.

Jake Isaac left Texas quite a few years ago; his heart torn from his chest, and his mind set on being a bachelor forever. Maine would welcome him, give him land to explore and a community to belong to. Getting a job as the coach of the local junior high and serving on the fire department kept him busy — and labeled him a hometown hero — but the truth of his damaged heart was forever hidden.

 No one would ever know just how jaded he was about love. That is… until he meets Kari.

Being An Indie Author
*my favorite subject -- mignon

I think from a young age I’ve always been independent, always looking for a way to forge a new path and climb a steep hill and do it mainly on my own. I think like most Indies, I started by trying the traditional route and after loads of rejection, it was just easier to forget it. A few friends of mine are making it big in the indie world and have reluctantly pulled me into it as well. I will tell you that it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

I’m not a superstar, but a story teller – which is all I ever wanted to be. I set my schedule, write what I want, love on you guys by giving away whatever the hell I want to and life FEELS right/good.

Let me tell you why else I love being Indie.

1. No one will ever love my book as much as me. It’s my creation and having the freedom to choose what it looks like and where the plot goes is all mine to decide. I don’t have someone standing over my shoulder making it “better” by their definition of “better.”

2. I can spend as little or as much time, energy and money as I want. Obviously the more I put into it, the more I’m going to get out of it, but that’s with anything in life. The cool part is that if I’m a good editor or if I can design my own cover, then those are costs to be saved and skills to be used.

3. I belong. In a world of independent authors I find myself fitting in just perfectly. We all work hard and dream big and the encouragement is beyond belief. I don’t have to write a certain genre or stick to a certain structure in the plot. I simply write, promote and support and honestly feel great about myself at the end of the day.

Being an Indie author, to me, doesn’t really have anything to do with being Independent though. It’s a statement that says I’m capable of making every step along this book writing/producing platform to take a dream from start to finish. The truth of what Indie authors are doing is showing the world that there still exists hope. Hope to dream big and work hard to make that dream a reality.

That’s why I love being Indie!

{ review } .
I had the opportunity to read the entire serial, so the review will be based off the entire 3-part series. As I don't want to give anything away for those of you reading in the segments, I will keep this to development and character!

I think Ali Parker had a good idea when it came to this serial. While I can't fault Becca for being so hung up on age (I have to agree, late thirties and young twenties is quite the age difference, no matter how mature Jason thinks he is), I did get annoyed with her insistance that Kade was the man of her dreams.

Becca and Kade weren't even high school sweethearts -- they were simply friends, and Becca wanted more from their friendship. In an unrealistic coincidence, Kade ends up back in town and Becca needs to decide if she wants to pursue something with the now-man that she wanted when she was a teenager -- mind you, twenty years prior -- or try and figure out if the cute young guy in her office will hold her attention.

All in all, the writing was well-done. I liked Jason, even if I found him to be very much the twenty-two year old he said he was (his comments and actions screamed his age, even though the idea was he was a more mature twenty-two year old). I was annoyed with Becca when she was too busy focusing on age and the love of a man she never actually had.

I think Ali was on the right path. She certainly writes in a way that makes me want to keep reading her work!

THIS ONE'S FOR YOU { cover reveal }

This One’s For You by Brandy Jellum

Publisher: Booktrope (June 2015)

All alone in a new state, Brennan Daniels has only the memories of her best friend, Reagan, to keep her company as she starts college. Reagan is the reason for everything Brennan does—before she died, she made Brennan promise to stay good until she found a man worth keeping. No boys, no dating, and definitely no falling in love—those were the rules for college, and Brennan carved them into the brick walls guarding her heart…

But there’s a fire burning behind those walls, and when Brennan meets Owen Scott, the (mysterious) new guy across the hall, she can’t deny the pull between them. He is everything she should never want. Everyone warns her to stay away—even Owen himself—but the heart wants what the heart wants, even if it knows that it’s going to get hurt—even if it means throwing old promises to new flames…

about Brandy || Brandy’s passion for writing began long before she actually sat down to write. As a child, she has had an obsession with reading, everything from the classic stories by Jane Austen to YA Fiction by Richelle Mead. Finally, in 2012, she decided to create her own stories for people to fall in love with. Brandy bounces back and forth writing both Romance and Young Adult Fiction (which is mainly just for fun).

At the beginning of 2014, Brandy signed a contract with publishing company Booktrope. She is very excited about the next chapter of her life and cannot wait to share her books and passion with readers.

When she isn’t writing, she can be found chasing after her husband, her four children and her black lab, Diesel. Or curled up on her favorite corner of the couch with her newest book.

{ blog hop with good tales book tours ! }

Know what is a fantastic idea?

Getting together a bunch of book bloggers and putting together a blog hop. One day of a bunch of book reviews, on books that may be old, may be new, and no one said, "Please review this for such and such date".

Know what makes that a terrible idea?

...deciding what book you want to spotlight for your own stop in the hop.

Let me tell you -- it was a difficult decision. Did I go with WINTERS HEAT, book one in the Cristin Harber TITAN series, because I love me some Colby, and I haven't formally review it yet? Or should I go with SAVAGE SECRETS -- the first TITAN book that I read, and therefore my introduction to all things Harber -- who then lead me to the likes of J.B. Salsbury. ORRRR... Do I go with the other friend in that fun little clique, with a book that I have reviewed, but it's a book I could read over and over and over again, and never get bored with it?

See?

Tough decision.

So, want to know what I went with...?

*two fantastic giveaways and links to the other blogs are at the bottom of this post.

I didn’t mean to hurt anyone, especially him…
I was living the dream. I had a great career as a romance author, a successful boyfriend, and am the daughter to a New York power couple. With my standing, my family groomed me to be perfect. Despite having it all, something was still missing.
In an attempt to break away from my privileged, suffocating life, I was in pursuit of finding my own path to happiness. After my literary agent gave me a risky writing assignment, I set out to write a best-seller that took me completely out of my comfort zone and into the arms of another man. He was only supposed to be a research toy, falling in love wasn’t a part of the plan. As I become tangled into a huge web of lies, I quickly find out that I have a life changing decision to make. Do I choose to continue living a life of comfort, stability, and misery or do I take a chance on the unknown to preserve my happiness?
