When this series was first announced, I was ECSTATIC. I love series that follow families and the larger the family, the better. Well, the Bennett's are 9-kids deep, so this series has the opportunity for a lot of longevity behind it. Of the girls, I think Pippa will be my favorite story, but she has some healing to do. Besides, I don't imagine her brothers are going to allow her to date again anytime soon...
I digress. This book. Sebastian and Ava.
Growing up one of nine, Sebastian understood the financial struggles his parents went through. On the promise of a prayer, his parents sold the family ranch to give him start up money for a high-end jewelry company -- and it certainly paid off. Now Sebastian is wealthy and most of the Bennetts work with the company in some form or another. Sebastian refuses to take all the credit for it, regardless of the tabloids doing just that -- showcasing what a down to earth guy this Bennett is (further showcased by his generosity).
Ava comes to the company as a temp, more or less, working for a marketing company that Bennett Enterprises employs for their latest campaign. When Ava and Sebastian (and Logan, too) first meet, she's extremely professional, but manages to let loose just a bit when Sebastian and Logan show that it's ok. Like the marketing team there, I fell in love with Ava.
Both Ava and Sebastian were strong characters. Both had independent natures and were of strong mind, showcasing their talents throughout the pages. Their journey was a fun one to read, and a great introduction to this series. I've not read a Layla Hagen title previously, but I found her writing style to be just the type that I can get on board with, and read the stories again and again.
