{ about rachel robinson } .
Rachel grew up in a small, quiet town full of loud talkers. Her words were always only loud on paper. She has been writing stories and creating characters for as long as she can remember. After living on the west coast for many years she recently moved to Virginia Beach, VA.{ excerpt } .
She’s been his for the stolen years. I called Dax. We spoke of Lainey and how he wants her to know she has options. He wants to win her fair and square. I didn’t have the heart to tell him fair and square loses every single time. The option that Lainey is exercising at the moment has my mouth watering and my dick rapt at attention. A stronger man--a man with more integrity would resist. I was stripped of everything, integrity included. I just want back what is rightfully mine.
“I want to kiss your entire body. You want that?” I ask, rubbing the insides of her thighs with the palms of my hands. Her body excites me. It’s familiar and brand new at the same time. Everything washes away when I touch her. I can block my pain receptors with her pleasure. I can forget. “Every single square inch of you.” I say folding my hands around her tiny, tan waist.
She nods. Her doe eyes challenging me to merely kiss her. Smirking, I lean over her drag my lips across her tits, down her stomach and back up her neck to find her mouth. Lainey whimpers as I rest some of my body weight on top of her. My mouth is watering by the time I bring my lips on top of hers. Her scent is all around me, her warm skin is against my chest, my cock is nestled right where it wants to be. How to tell her how much I’ve missed her? Or that her fucking gorgeous face is still the center of my universe?
{ review } .
From the moment this book popped up on my radar for the myriad of tour-things I participated in, I knew it was a book I wanted to read (and the cover is sexy, so...). The synopsis alone drew me in, and the more teasers, more excerpts I helped share, the more I wanted to know more about Cody and the woman in his bones. Even knowing more about Lainey now then he did when she was his and forever was on their horizon, his heart still beat for the woman, and I wanted in on the love he had for her.
Their story is definitely an unconventional one. Cody was declared dead -- something the military does when bodies aren't found. He wasn't, he came home after being tortured, and now runs a security company. And while he keeps away from Lainey, he still keeps tabs on the woman who owns his heart, who he kept locked away in his bones (something he explains in the early chapters). He knows that she finally found it in herself to move on, he knows that she's with Dax, a man both he and she once called a friend -- and while he doesn't think he deserves her any longer, he's no longer a good guy, he doesn't want her to marry someone else without knowing he's around.
Lainey was a strong character with a bit of a sticky past. She's great at what she does -- interior design and then some. And as much as she wants to move on, the words in her heart are only for, will only ever be for, Cody Ridge.
I wouldn't say there's a triangle, per se, for those of you against that, and there's really not cheating, in the true sense of the word. But there's a lot of questioning, a lot of internal searching and deciding what exactly the heart wants, in this journey that is TIME AND SPACE. Beyond that, though, there's the past that kept Cody trapped and tortured -- it still needs to be resolve, giving the book an additional source of angst and drama.
Additionally to Cody and his Fast Lane, I really liked secondary characters Mav and Windsor and was so hoping that when I scoured Rachel's Goodreads author page that I'd find their book -- and sure enough, they have their own story! It's CRAZY GOOD, if you haven't read it (amazon). I'll be reading it shortly ;) *side note: when writing that comment, I did not see in Goodreads that TIME AND SPACE was a CRAZY GOOD book. I think that was a new addition to the page....
