He arranges a fake engagement to win against his business rival.

Bradley Mead has one overriding goal: to succeed over his fiercest business enemy. To boost his chances of winning a lucrative contract over his competitor, he must first assure his potential client that he is not after the client's new wife--a woman he used to date and who still loves to flirt with him. To aid his cause, he asks Erin Baker, his sister's beautiful best friend, to be his pretend fianceé. But Erin soon becomes a pawn for his archrival's underhanded tactics... and he finds himself torn between winning in business and following the dictates of his heart.

She doesn't expect to fall for her fake fiancé.

Erin Baker believes she is now immune from Bradley Mead's charms. After all, her secret crush for him when she was still a teenager is long gone. When an ex-boyfriend becomes a new work colleague and starts annoying her, accepting Brad's proposition to be his fake fianceé for a short time seems like a great idea... until she discovers that she's been lying to herself about her feelings for him. Can she ever win the heart of the man who has never loved her back, and shows no intention of ever doing so?

{ about miranda p. charles } .

Miranda P. Charles is the author of more than a dozen steamy and stirring contemporary romance novels.

She prefers to spend her time in front of her laptop, putting into words the love stories that play in her head. Don't get her started with reading a great book, though, because she has the tendency to not put it down until she gets to the last page.

She does have a life outside of books. Mostly, that consists of bonding with family and friends or going on romantic trips with her awesome husband (who, thankfully, puts up with her hermit-like daily routine). Oh, yeah, there's also the housework. But she really wishes someone else could do that for her so she could get back to her books!

She lives in one of the suburbs in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia.

I love series that revolve around friends and family, and this UN-something family that Miranda has brought forth has been so much fun to read about. In this latest book that follows the bet for who's the next male friend to fall, we have Erin and Brad. Erin's old roommate, who is also Brad's sister, has now moved out (as she and her beau were the last to fall) and she's looking for a new roommate. Brad is picking up a job and it would just look better if he were a family guy, so...

He moves in, they pretend to be engaged, and all's well. Not only that, Erin's ex, who cheated on her and married the woman, is knocking on her door again so in an effort to get him to stop, it works in her favor to have a 'fiance' as well.

Little do these two expect, their already there friendship and the close quarters help the feelings grow.

I loved that both Erin and Brad had their motives for the farce, and that on paper, a relationship just doesn't seem likely. They bicker and butt heads like nobody's business, but in the end, their solid friendship and ability to get past the bickering is what made their eventual pairing believable. I love a good bickering couple ;) A little banter makes life fun. But the best part? The way these two cared for one another. That was the icing on the cake.

Yet another solid addition to the CAPTURED BY LOVE series! So... who's next? My money's on Gavin.
