Ash “Maverick” Fuller can’t help but feel that something is missing from his life, even with the woman he loves by his side.

His business is flourishing, his woman is content and he should be happy too, right? Wrong.

Ren can sense something isn’t right and tries to reach out. Secrets are a deal breaker and if she can’t get through to him, it might just be thing that tears their perfect little world apart.

Ash would do anything to protect her from harm, but sometimes even the people you love the most have secrets and shame that they want to bury forever.

This time, trust mightn’t be enough.

{ about amity cross } .

Amity Cross isn't her real name. That's no secret.

She is the author of wicked stories about rock stars looking for redemption, gritty romances featuring MMA fighters and dark tales of forbidden romance. She loves to write about screwed up relationships and kick ass female leads that don't take s**t lying down.

Amity lives in a leafy country town in southern Australia and can be found chained to her desk, held at ransom by her characters.

Don't send help. She likes it.

I loved this 'conclusion', if you will, to Ash and Ren's story. And I have to say, I was surprised by the length! As a "half" book, I was expecting it to be much shorter than it was, but it was darn near a full-length story! And I loved that it had length.

Ash and Ren's story did not finish with their second book. Nor did it end when Violet and Lincoln were finding their way. Now, Ash and Ren are moving forward with their forever plans -- Ash is finishing up the apartment, and the two of them are going to live, eat, sleep, work, and fight together forever and ever (amen). Ren doesn't fancy herself a ring kind of woman, so this works extremely well for her.

What I loved with this book was that their story simply was not done. Ash, as reformed as he seems, still harbors guilt and dark pieces, but Ren is his light, the thing that keeps him grounded. Even when uncomfortable in a dress at the opening, the moment between she and Ash was captured beautifully on film and even Ren can see how much the man loves and cares for her. Ash's playful moments...

He started to lead me across the gym, his back pressing against mine. Stumbling over his big feet, I said, "How about you cover my eyes when we get to the door."

"I get to have your ass rubbing against my cock this way."

"Filthy bastard," I declared.

"You love it just as much as I do, Spitfire," he replied, his voice low and husky...

...gosh I loved them. He has a sassy, naughty mouth that could come across as cocky, but instead sets the playful tone for the relationship that is Maverick and Spitfire.

He pulled away and slapped me on the ass. "You look like an angel by the way."

We get so much more of the sibling relationship between Ash and Vee here, too. Now that she's living away, they talk via phone and their conversations are so real... they could be conversations between my younger brother and I.

Ash does have his jealous streaks, though, and on one hand, they made me question the trust between he and Ren but on the other, in it's context... I think the moments simply show how very much he cares for Ren and how much he belittles himself. This is a man who has fought hard for everything he has, who fights for those he cares about, and doesn't expect good to ever come and stay his way. He questions things and still fears that he's not good enough for Ren. He's too dark, too dangerous... his ideas and wants don't line up with hers. He needs the reinforcement, but it's not done in an annoying way.

I truly, truly enjoyed Ash and Ren in this book. I liked them before; I liked the relationships and the friendships and the siblingships, but this book... this one right here? Made me a Ren and Ash lover, hands-down.
