Sometimes, the past isn’t supposed to be forgotten.

Sam is convinced he’s cursed. Everything he touches dies. He leaves his past behind and travels across the country, hoping the distance will save the loved ones he’s left. When his car breaks down, he becomes stranded, finding comfort in a stray dog.

Despite the fact that he refuses to build any relationships, the people of Sterling, Colorado wiggle their way into his heart. His adopted dog, Lucky, shows him he can handle responsibility. His new boss, Lenny, shows him he has purpose. His neighbor, Izzy, shows him he’s capable of love again. But can Sam find happiness after he’s lost it all?

Finding Sam, the sequel to the bestselling novel of addiction and attraction, A Reliant Love, is a tale of redemption, acceptance, and finding yourself.

{ review } .

With the way A RELIANT LOVE ended... my goodness, I wasn't sure how Taylor was going to pick up from that. Sam had fought long and hard, and life was finally looking good for him. Sobriety is a never ending battle, but he had a girl by his side that was willing to fight that battle with him.

And in a second, everything was taken away from him.

This book showcases Sam's struggle to accept love, move on from grief, and learn that sometimes you need to hit the bottom before you can truly make it to the top. Moving away and finding new people to surround himself with, as well as responsibility in taking care of Lucky, helps him but just when he finally allows himself to think 'forever' with Izzy, words from his past make him question --

If he had a once in a lifetime once, how could he have it with Izzy? Is he betraying Nat by loving Izzy? and Is what he feels for Izzy truly real?

I loved Sam's journey. My heart broke for him on more than one occasion and more than once, I had at least watery eyes (if not full tears). The grieving process Sam goes through was written extremely well, again proving that Taylor Lavati has a knack for emotion.
