{ review } .

I swear I've read a RED STONE SECURITY book before, but if my blog or Goodreads account says anything, it gives a big, fat NO. But I should. And I will.

(oh, and look-ee there... I have BREAKING HER RULES and DEADLY FALLOUT on my Kindle. There's that over-active 'request review' button again. Books I should have reviewed a while ago.... Grr.)

Because this group of people? I enjoy them. I enjoy them a lot.

Athena is new to the Red Stone group. An event planner, her cousin Bella had her husband Grant make a position for her as the security group has been doing more than just security for events -- people now want them to put the event together.

When we start the book, we're given a brief insight to Quinn's brief stint on the police force. I wasn't quite sure where Katie Reus was going with it, but where she took it? Worked well.

When we start the meat of the story, we have Bella and Athena chatting about men and how Athena's done. Every man she's interested in runs after that stupid 'V' word comes out. Men are terrified by the fact she's twenty-four and a virgin. Just two months ago, she was dating this guy who she thought could be the one and boom, he was gone fast.

It's not like she'd been saving herself, though. The opportunity simply never happened.

And while she thought Quinn could have been "it" for her... she doesn't imagine she'll ever see him again.

Well, turns out he works for Red Stone Security too, and when she first sees him after the months apart... she races for the bathroom and hides.

First off, I'd like to point out that I love the camaraderie between this group of people. When Grant figures out that Quinn knew Athena a few months back, he puts two and two together with a conversation he overheard Athena and Bella having and warns his friend to protect his man parts. I had a laugh out loud moment there...

I also wanted to give Quinn major points for following Athena to the bathroom and waiting her out, forcing a conversation to happen -- seeing as he was the one to balk on them, I felt it important that he be the one to get it rolling again.

Their relationship is definitely a quick one -- but I think the fact that they were both serious their first time dating helped make this part believable, that it wasn't the danger and everything forcing their hand. They both admitted that they had strong feelings when they'd first been dating and if anything, the time apart only made it that much more apparent to the both of them.

As a shorter read, I liked the way the author did her time jumps. I would have liked a deeper, fuller story but felt that as a reader, we received everything we needed to watch the relationship progress.
