Wingman Inc., book 2
★★★★★
TOUR HOST: XPRESSO BOOK TOURS
Wingman rule number two: never reveal how much you want them.Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away. Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this particular RVD title. Don't get me wrong, everything she puts out is beyond fabulous, but I didn't 100% connect with Ian and Blake, and I was afraid I'd feel the same for Lex.
Oh, ho-ho, no. Nope. Not at all.
Lex and Gabi's story was probably my favorite non-mafia book RVD has put out--and I like everything. Lex and his cocky ways... You can't help but have feelings for him, as well as have major feels when you're inside his head. Then there's strong Gabi, or Gabs as the guys call her (that is, until one Asshole Lex starts treating her a little differently). She's super independent, she loves Ian like a brother, loves to bicker and fight with Lex...
Lex and Gabi's story was so well crafted. The tension between the two was palpable, but more than that, the chemistry, the love... everything was just there in spades. I had so many laugh out loud moments where these two were concerned (RVD is the master at comedy, I kid you not) but equally, I had just as many 'aww' moments. Lex can pull out quite the romantic strings when he needs to...
Without giving things away, I just have to say that Lex pulls a great one over on Gabi and Ian. It takes a lot to go through what he's gone through--both in his past (the past that brought him incredibly close to Ian), but even through times in the semi-recent past... God, I loved him.
I did feel that Gabi's secret, as mentioned in the synopsis, was definitely there--it was the driving force in things she did, as well as the curiosity Lex starts to push at, but it wasn't so overly done that it took from the story.
And of course, Ian and Blake have their well-deserved points in the story; I love that Blake still gives Ian everything she's got. There were some LOL moments with them, as well.
