No strings attached is pretty much Lucky McCord's calling card in Spring Hill, Texas, but when family is on the line, this cowboy's honor and heart are about to get lassoed, tied and branded

Every family needs its black sheep, and Austin "Lucky" McCord is happy to oblige. The bad-boy bull rider lives fast and loose, until his business partner leaves him an unexpected bequest. Suddenly Lucky is sharing custody of two children with Cassie Weatherall, one of the few homegrown women he hasn't bedded. And not from lack of trying…

Cassie fled her messy past to become a celebrity therapist in LA. So why does it feel so right to come back and share parenting duties—and chrome-melting kisses—with a man she's striven to avoid? Loving Lucky always seemed like a sure bet for heartache. But for this perfectly imperfect family, Cassie might just gamble with everything she's got.

I don't read many Delores Fossen books, but I know her name well.

After this book, though, I need to keep her on my radar! This book had it all for me -- a hero who wanted to do right by his ailing... whatever Dixie Mae was to him (to be fair, she was a rodeo friend), a heroine who has used all of her powers that be to not be one of Austin McCords's many women, and a meddling Dixie Mae, who even on her death bed, and after life, has figured out a way to get two of the people she holds dearest to realize just what they could have together.

These McCord brothers are definitely impressing me, but so far, two books in, and Austin "Lucky" McCord may just be my favorite. There's something about a man who isn't afraid of the chase, and isn't (eventually) afraid of raising two children with the woman he's been chasing, that just has me happy and on my toes for the duration of a story.

Lucky and Cassie may have been thrust into this situation, but watching as they figured everything out -- as well as their own feelings -- was great. Sure, there are bumps and bruises along the way, but the entire journey was so well written; I could feel the emotion, see the ranch, and see the joy (and fear) in the Mia and Mackenzie's eyes throughout the changes in their lives.

Nothing about this book was hard to connect to. I loved the emotion, the tension... it wasn't deep and dark and angsty, but still felt real and light and true. Like I said, so far this is a favorite!
