{ review } .

Whenever I pick up a book from an author I don't know, my initial worry is: Will I get along with her writing style? Because a book can get a thousand 5-star reviews and yet the book and I may not jive as well as it did for others.

For the most part... I truly enjoyed Ms. Morgan's style. I liked her characters and how she wrote them; I liked their thoughts processes and their dialogue; I liked their emotions. But at times I felt those same items were choppy -- dialogue that didn't quite flow fully, in a realistic sense, being the key point.

That aside, though...

I loved the vulnerability of Logan. Here was a man who, like many others, discovered his second half was back home cheating while he was overseas (I would like to add, SOAPBOX MOMENT!, the cheating at home is a big thing to read about, but it does happen overseas, as well -- something that isn't said as often). He loses his wife and essentially has nothing -- they didn't have kids. So he's now alone.

The battle of right and wrong continues to drive the story. There are plenty of emotions that are drawn out for the reader, and heavier emotional scenes as well.

And the epilogue... Oh, the epilogue.... It made me smile and I was happy once again.

I will indeed be following this series; now that I have a good feel for Ms. Morgan's writing style, I likely won't be as harsh on that point next time!
