{ about j.l. beck } .
J.L. Beck is the best selling author of numerous books including Indebted, Inevitable, Invincible, and The Bittersweet Series. She's best known for weaving a tale, that ends with your mouth hanging open, and your hands gripping the edge of your seat.
She's a no holds bar author who enjoys spending time with her husband of seven years, three year old hellion, and Hatchi the fur baby. She calls Wisconsin home, but loves to travel. In her free time you can catch her watching bad reality tv, cooking, reading books, or spending time outdoors.

This entire set... Oh my goodness.
If there's one thing J.L. Beck has proven to me, it's that she does the new adult thing well. This set puts together her 5-BITTERSWEET stories, and reading them from front to end was like watching this group of friends grow.
We start the journey with Jenna; her best friend is Mimi. Jenna just got out of a relationship with Corey, who is spreading viscous rumors about her. Mimi and Corey kind of circle around one another, too, but mainly because Mimi is the strength behind the friendship of her and Jenna. Corey's cousin, Rex, comes to school, and not only that -- but his identical twin brother (identical all for but their mismatched eyes) Ryder comes as well. Book one is Jenna's, alongside the growing friendship to something more with Rex. As the series progresses, we watch the ups and downs of Jenna and Rex, the bickering and fighting between Corey and Mimi, and don't worry, Ryder gets himself a book too (thank goodness, because there are parts you want to love him, and others you want to throat-punch him).
I absolutely loved reading the growth of these characters. I found my favorite two to likely be Jenna and Rex, but Corey grew on me. His asshole-ish ways have ground for him, sure, but watching him grow was enlightening. He and Mimi definitely have quite the hill to climb, but their story was definitely beautiful.
And the icing on the cake? J.L. Beck has done a spin-off with one of the children of these people, and he's paired up with a child of another couple in a different series of hers. I love when authors continue to grow their characters like that!
My only drawback? The synopsis we were sent for the tour stated that this was going to be a reunion, that we were getting to catch up with the Winchesters. Granted, I needed to meet the Winchesters, but I'd love catch up further (is there more than WORTH THE CHASE; I see on goodreads it's under the series title of WORTH IT...)?
