As a child, Kelly dreamt of having a handsome husband, beautiful children, and a dog playing in the backyard. But life rarely turns out the way you plan, and she fears her clock is ticking. Still on the prowl for the perfect husband, she becomes more bold in her search. A night that starts out like any other, ends up being the one that changes everything.
As the owner of a security company, Kendrick McFall takes safety very seriously. His first instinct is to keep Kelly at arms length. However, she isn’t his to command, and she isn’t easily persuaded to stay away from the world in which Kendrick lives. A world that she craves.
Taking her under his protection seems to be the only way to keep her safe from the ghosts of his past, and protect her from new threats. Along the way he doesn’t just seek to secure her safety, he wants to secure her heart.

This is the story of Kelly and Kendrick -- two very headstrong people. An avid reader, Kelly is curious about the club scene... Rather, the sex club scene and BDSM as a whole.
At the beginning if the story, she's downtown with friends when a man approaches her. While she thinks he's on the greasy side, she agrees to a drink. When he states he had another pace to go and she finds out what it is, her curious mind has her asking to tag along.
No worries, she's at least semi-smart about it and finds her own way.
Kendrick's company runs security and while this particular dungeon isn't one he likes nor plays at himself, it's a place that needs a good set of eyes on it. While there one night, he sees his nemesis, Ted, with a very vanilla newcomer.
Kendrick saves Kelly this night. We learn that Kendrick is a former cop, has issues with some if his old co-workers, and he is NOT Ted's biggest fan. He's also a stickler for rules and has a thing for a certain red head; how so quickly, he has no idea. He makes Kelly promise that if she were to visit a scene like that again, she does it on a night he's doing security and at a safer club.
He figures she'll pass the offer, that she scared off.
Ha.
Sorry, Kendrick...
Much to his chagrin, Kelly shows up the next night. After watching her, he offers to teach her the ins and outs of the lifestyle. Kelly and Kendrick enter a relationship of sorts, and sure enough, the emotions come along with it.
I liked Kendrick. I thought he was tough, protective (even if a bit possessive), and an altogether good Dom -- he taught well. He expected and demanded honesty, as does any good Dom. And at the beginning of their agreement/relationship, he's sure to demand honesty of Kelly.
But when she starts to remember her original dreams for life, she starts to pull back. Kendrick senses that she's holding back, but at that time, doesn't demand the answers -- so that was on him, I feel.
I felt that Kelly made some rash, stupid decisions... She puts herself in danger too many times for me to continue to care, but luckily for her, Kendrick believes in them and knows when to give her space and when to pull her in.
Altogether, this was a good read. On a BDSM scale, it's a good one. Probably will go down as one of my favorite series of the sort (next to Club Sin by Stacey Kennedy). So while the characterization, the description, the plot... they all pulled me in, it was Kelly's character that had me holding back.
