“Aw, sweetie.” Max laughed and pulled me in for a hug. I winced
as my pounding head made contact with his chest. “Believe me, if we would have
slept together, you would remember, even drunk, you would remember.”
“Someone’s cocky.”
“Confident.” He released me. “So are we upset or are we okay?”
“We?”
“Partners.” He winked. “For life. You and me, we’re a we.” He
lifted the coffee to his lips. “Hey, that rhymed, how badass am I, after
getting drunk last night?” He nodded his head. “Sharp as a tack.”
The coffee slid out of the cup and onto his hand.
Lots of cursing followed.
Then flailing.
“Yeah.” I took the coffee away. “Sharp as something.”
“So.” Max reached behind him and pulled out my diary. “Curious
minds want to know, when you drew that picture of the house you and Colton were
going to live in once you got married in front of the queen of England, did you
purposefully draw the dog without a tail or were you just confused?”
“Give me that!” I lunged for the pink diary. “How the hell did
you find it?”
Max held it above his head and took a sip of coffee. “People
always hide interesting stuff under their mattresses, though I had you pinned
for more of a signed ’N Sync poster, considering all the stupid hearts around
JC Chasez’s face on the torn-up poster in your closet.” The freak had gone in
my closet too? “This is just as good. Though I have to admit, I’m a bit
disappointed that you chose Prince Harry to walk you down the aisle. Do I mean
nothing to you?”
“I had a thing for royalty!” I shouted, my headache making a
fierce pounding in my temples.
“Mmm.” Max set his coffee down but kept the diary above his
head. “One last question.”
“If I answer, will you give it back so I can burn it?”
“I’ll give it back.” He held up his hand. “But burning this
would be a crime. It’s like reality TV only worse, I seriously cried real tears
and it wasn’t because the story was sad. Oh, and P.S. It took you five years to
spell nightmare right, just thought I’d let you know.”

Want to know what Rachel does really well? Series with a huge group of people that you're just can't wait to get your hands on.
I haven't read many of them, but EAGLE ELITE is fantabulous. However, where that new adult series is dark, CONSEQUENCES has the makings of being full of laughs.
This was a surprisingly quick read. It pulled me in and I was a good 70% through it before I realized I was nearing the end. That's something else Rachel does well -- pull you in and refuses to let you out..!
No worries, there's plenty if seriousness in THE CONSEQUENCES OF LOVING COLTON, just enough to keep you in your toes, but it's the laughs, the friendship, and the antics that will keep this series a go-back-for-more one.
This last week, my theme seemed to have been best friends and siblings' best friends, and not one story has steered me wrong.
Milo has fancied herself in love with her brother's best friend, Colton, for years. One night, though, when they snuck away to his family pool, they kissed and he put on the breaks. Milo was humiliated.
Gone was the boy who slayed dragons, the boy who would make countless bets with her. To him, she'd always be like a sister...
Or so she thought.
Not gone, though, is her brother's best friend who picks on her. I got a sense of the elementary school playground with the little boys pulling the pigtails of the girls they liked...
Now her brother's getting married to her nemesis and the only way she can fathom getting through the wedding festivities is with her best friend, Max.
Max is unlike the boys back home. So much so, when she and he first met Milo thought he was gay. While he did like Milo, he decided friendship was worth more and they certainly have a fantastic friendship.
Max figure that the way to Colton is through jealousy, so he devises a plan to be Milo's boyfriend. Watching all of this pan out was comical to say the least.
...but it certainly did the job.
This cast of characters was so lovable. Milo is a tomboy who loves her STAR WARS, but is girly enough to worry about Colton's opinion. Jason... Ha. Jason. He had a rough week in this book, that's for sure. Colton is protective and a bit possessive, two if my favorite 'P's when reading about alpha type males. A little slow when it comes to Milo, but hey, he's a guy. When it all clicks, then he's a speedy one, that's for sure. Max. Gosh, you just can't not like him -- unless you're Colton, that is. And when his brother joins the party? Watch out, those two are the freaking dynamic duo.
Did I have my issues with this story? Sure. The majority of it was Milo vying to Colton's attention, and Max weaving the lie further and deeper. When the truth came out everything happened just a tad too quickly in my opinion but the scene was set so sure, it made sense.
I did, however, feel bad on multiple occasions for Milo and Colton. Whenever they were working through things, about to have that epic conversation...
...someone would come and interrupt. Again, and again, and again they were interrupted. Poor kids just couldn't catch a break (still couldn't at the end either! They need to lock their doors...).
Small issues aside, this was a comedic read and I certainly enjoyed it! I'm pumped for Reid's story -- Jason had a plan up his sleeve...
